Style Muses For Your Festive Fashion This Holiday Season

'Tis the season to binge all of your favorite holiday movies, so I’m setting out to prove that there is more to take away from your holiday favs than just the warm and cozy feelings. It’s time to look at the best holiday outfits from some of the most iconic characters.

Beginning with our favorite sassy single, Carrie Bradshaw is known for her myriad of playful and eclectic looks, and this outfit is no exception for Sex and the City’s resident risk taker. Carrie’s New Years “casual” is the perfect example of costume designer Patricia Field’s expertise. High heeled booties, pajamas, a sparkling beanie, and a fur coat shouldn’t really work for anyone, but as Ms. Bradshaw has proven time and time again she can make practically anything look good.

Arguably one of the most memorable holiday films of all time, Love Actually is the ultimate Christmas fantasy that features some unforgettable 2000s wardrobes- especially on Juliet. From her cowl neck tops, to her low rise jeans, to her brown leather jackets, Juliet’s wardrobe is a staple of the film. However, her most interesting fashion choice is the infamous flat cap which, Kiera Knightley recently revealed on BBC Radio 1, she only wore to cover up a pimple she had that day.

There are many reasons why The Holiday is up there with some of our favorite holiday movies: the beautiful Los Angeles homes, the cozy English cottage, Jude Law… However, the clear standout of the film is the arsenal of knitwear in Cameron Diaz’s closet. How an LA girl owns this many chic winter coats and fits them all into the two suitcases she packed- I really don’t know, but I can’t complain. With her chunky sweaters, elegant pajamas, and cashmere turtlenecks, Diaz’s character Amanda Woods is the perfect inspiration for your winter wardrobe.

In the end, who doesn’t love a good holiday movie? Give yourself an excuse to drink too much hot cocoa and eat that third bowl of popcorn… you might even find a style muse for this holiday season along the way.
