The Holiday Hot List: Staying In or Stepping Out

By Riley Kubaska

With the world reopening again, that means that the holidays, like most of our classes, are now in-person. Whether you’re seeing no one at all, your entire extended family, old friends and flames, or even new friends at the plethora of parties you’ll be attending, it seems only fitting that you have a holiday-hot list to live by this season.

For those who want to stay in

If your TikTok feed is anything like mine, ultra-mini Ugg boots have been sweeping both the nation and the wallets of everyone in sight. Platform or not- it’s up to you- but this miniature version of a beloved classic is without a doubt the new “It shoe”. Making their rounds with everyone from Bella Hadid to Elsa Hosk, the ultra-mini silhouette presents a more sleek and discrete style from Ugg that transforms what a “cozy” shoe could be. As this season has ushered in a new signature shoe, it has also solidified the matching lounge set as a staple in your closet. Ever since lockdown eschewed the era of zoom-calls and nights in, lounge sets have become a necessity in finding both versatility and comfort in day-to-day attire. From Skims, to Aritzia, to Target, everyone can find a set that is perfectly tailored to their personal style.

Skirts are shrinking and legs are showing this holiday season as hemlines are going from mini to micro. The mini-skirt is both fun and playful, offering up a myriad of styling opportunities to mull over. One option in particular, that creates an elegant balance of silhouettes, is the pairing of a knee-high boot. Ruling supreme both on and off the runway, the mini-skirt and knee-high boot combo solve the age-old dichotomy of staying warm yet maintaining those summer favorites throughout the holiday chill. To add to the everlasting appeal of this outfit, accessorizing is key. Throw on a chunky, colorful scarf for additional warmth, or a beaded shoulder bag for additional texture; a mini skirt and knee-high boot are truly the perfect foundation from which to build the perfect “going out” outfit.
