Think FAST: Get To Know Our PR Team!

Did you know that FAST is so much more than a blog? With 150 members across eleven committees, we are models, designers, event planners, videographers, photographers and so much more — our blog team is just the tip of the iceberg. With a little help from blogger Rita Chang, every few weeks we’ll be profiling a different director of one of FAST’s committees and one of their committee members to give you a look into the great group of students that make up UCLA’s first and only fashion club. Up first: PR&Marketing. — The Editors

What do you love most about being FAST’s PR&Marketing Director?

I’ve been able to develop and strengthen a lot of professional skills, such as marketing, networking, and strategic planning, during my time as Director of PR & Marketing. This position allows me to be creative as well, as I design and direct the creative direction for FAST’s various social media.

Favorite FAST project you’ve been a part of?

Undoubtedly the annual runway show, but if I were to choose my favorite FAST photoshoot, it would be the one our editorial team did this past Valentine’s Day.

Advice for people who want to join FAST?

Have a good sense of FAST before applying. Whether that mean stalking our Instagram, or attending one of our events (IE pop-up shops, career nights, etc.), it’s really important to understand who FAST is and what our organization stands for.

What are you involved in outside of FAST?

I currently serve as an undergraduate representative for the Student Fee Advisory Committee, fashion writer for Her Campus at UCLA, am a member of Kappa Delta sorority, and teach elementary sunday school at my church in downtown LA! During my free time, I love going to museums and trying to find LA’s best avocado-infused dish (my current pick is the avocado pizza at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills).

What’s your favorite trend? How do you like to style it?

These days, I’ve been really into wide leg jeans. I’m really into all the ones Reformation makes and love styling them with tighter-fitting tops, like a cute off-the-shoulder crop top.

What’s your most prized article of clothing?

Does my Céline bag count?

Favorite place to be?

Nordstrom during its anniversary sale, or Manhattan during the Spring.

What makeup/skincare item can’t you go without?

SPF, duh!

Favorite saying/mantra/advice?

Failure is inevitable, so try to fail fast — sometimes you win and sometimes you learn, it’s all about how you react to tough situations.

Fashion icon?

Danielle Bernstein (aka WeWoreWhat)

What inspired you to join FAST?

I wanted a creative outlet and the opportunity to pursue my love of the fashion industry! I had originally considered going to fashion school instead of UCLA so being able to pursue this passion here was important to me and FAST provided the perfect space for that.

What do you love most about being in FAST’s PR&Marketing Committee?

Social media is such a power tool in this day and age and I love being able to help market FAST to reach the widest audience possible. I’ve learned a lot through it and developed valuable career skills.

What are you involved in outside of FAST? (clubs, hobbies, etc)

I’m a member of Alpha Phi and the Alumni Scholars Club here on campus. You can also often find me on the track (I ran and jumped competitively for many years), on the beach (Point Dume is a personal fave), painting or petting a dog somewhere.

How would you describe your style?

It’s hard to describe, but ultimately I’d say colorful and put together. I’m an eclectic mix of beachy-casual bargain pieces deeply rooted in the country club lifestyle wear of my hometown, while also pulling immense tropical inspiration from my travels and featuring a hint of New York class.

What’s your most prized article of clothing?

A Valentino-inspired dress I designed myself.

Favorite accessory?

Fun earrings! My favorites right now are a turquoise constellation pair by Logan Hollowell.

What makeup/skincare item can’t you go without?

Glossier Boy Brow and a swipe of mascara is often all you need. Cetaphil cleanser and Sun Bum sunscreen are staples as well and I’m obsessed with all of Drunk Elephant’s products.

Favorite study spot?

The Delta Terrace Patio
