Clothes should be able to serve you in your everyday life in two ways: to bring you joy and for a practical, utilitarian purpose. When our wardrobe fails to follow either one of these purposes, our style loses a clear sense of function and direction. If your style routine is stuck in a rut or consists of spending too much time in the mornings trying to figure out what to wear, this article is for you. Here are three simple tips that can get you started in getting through your creative, fashion block:

1. Going Back To Basics

Create outfits from just basic clothing items (something as simple as jeans and a T-shirt), or create an outfit formula that will work with the clothes in your closet. This saves time and makes getting ready in the morning easier. Think about what other accessories and shoes are essential to your style, which can help upgrade your outfit.

2.  Focus on hair and makeup

Hair and makeup have just as much influence over a look as clothes do. Sometimes if figuring out what’s going on with your closet is too overwhelming, hair and makeup can just as easily transform an outfit. Trying a new lip color is an easy way of experimenting with makeup, without having to invest a lot of time and effort.

3.  Styling Something You Already Own

Sometimes the best, hidden (i.e. forgotten) gems are in the back of your closet. You are bound to find something that you only wore once or completely forgot you owned. Reintegrating this item into your everyday outfits might be what you needed to get your creative style flow going.
