MOM JEANS

In honor of this weekend's special holiday, why not celebrate Mother’s Day with a celebration of mom jeans. The phrase “mom jeans” was coined in 2003 by comedic genius, Tina Fey, as well as the rest of the ladies of SNL, in a skit poking fun at the denim. But today the women of fashion and queens of street style aren’t wearing the pants as a joke, they mean business. With the 90’s trend still in full swing, let’s take a look at four ways to make mom jeans modern:

Here our girl KJ rocks a loose fitting long sleeve top with her denim, showing off just enough of her midriff. Casual crops are perfect paired with your mom jeans for everyday wear, whether you’re running errands or heading to class.

In this effortlessly chic look, this woman styles her jeans with the ever-so-classic white collared button down and cool wayfarer sunglasses. I love the half-tucked in trick to do with slightly oversized tops because it adds a relaxed, undone vibe while giving a little more shape to the waist. This outfit would be perfect for casual Fridays at work.

This fiery-haired woman gives her mom jeans a grungy edge by pairing the dark acid-washed denim with a black moto jacket, black beanie, and black creepers. I’m loving the mix of throwback (I’m looking at you acid-wash) and rock and roll. This just goes to show that your mom jeans can be as versatile as your style gets.

In the last, but certainly not least, look we see how even mom jeans can be sexy. With your favorite bodysuit and pointed-toe heels, your distressed mom jeans can easily transition into a sassy night out. Add the beachy waves and quilted Chanel bag if you really want to go full on bombshell.
